In a clip that has racked up over one million views, the 26-year-old shows off the elaborate punnet, which hail from Japan.
Known for their large size and picture-perfect appearance, the fruit retails at a whopping £7.50 per strawberry.
Carmie’s haul came in a luxe box with each berry in a pink case.
The Londoner said: “Harrods has just come out with £180 strawberries, so let’s open them up and see if they’re worth it.”
As he reveals the fruits, he says: “OK moment of truth…oh my god.
“The whiff of strawberry I just smelt is crazy.
“They don’t even look real.
“This feels so overwhelming.”
Carmie samples one of the berries, describing it as looking like “the most perfect strawberry”.
He bites into one, and is visibly disappointed.
He said: “I don’t know what I was expecting but I don’t think it was that.
“I can’t lie, that tasted not that juicy at all.
“It kind of just tasted like a normal strawberry.”
Giving it another try, he eats another one but is left upset, calling it “awful”.
Carmie says: “£180 I spent on this and it tastes like £2 strawberries.
“It just tastes mushy.
“I feel robbed!
“If you were ever considering spending £180 on strawberries, just take my advice: they are not worth it.”
The video, shared with What’s The Jam, sparked backlash.
One user commented: “WHY WOULDNT YOU DONATE THAT 180 TO A FOOD BANK?”
“It makes me sick knowing that there are starving ppl in the world but also people that pay £15 a strawberry,” another viewer wrote.
Someone else added: “How are they so expensive?”
“Capitalism is crazy…” said another critic.
Another user commented: “I really enjoy your videos but it does make me sad that some people can barely afford their rent and other people can spunk £180 on a punnet of strawberries.”
Someone else called it “outrageous”.
