Tesco has launched a new range of ready meals containing fewer than 400 calories each, with five dishes designed to pack in protein, fibre and essential nutrients.
The supermarket’s new Plentifuel range features five 300g chilled meals, each priced at £3, with shoppers able to get three for £8 with Clubcard Prices.
The meals have been developed with nutritionists and chefs for people looking to get more nutrients from smaller portions, including those managing their weight or with smaller appetites.
The range includes Katsu Chicken, Pesto Chicken Pasta, Beef & Lentil Bolognese, Chicken & Chorizo Paella and Three Bean Chilli, as reported by What’s The Jam.
All five meals contain fewer than 400 calories per pack, are high in protein, provide a source of fibre and count towards one of your five-a-day.
The Three Bean Chilli contains 11g of fibre per pack, while the Katsu Chicken provides 28g of protein.
Natasha Maynard, Tesco nutritionist, said: “We know that more customers are thinking carefully about what they get from the food they eat.
“With Plentifuel, we wanted to make that choice easier. We’ve created meals that are full of flavour while providing protein and fibre in a really convenient format.
“These first meals are just the start for Plentifuel. We’re really excited to introduce the range to customers and then build on it with even more products next year, all with the same focus on helping people make every mouthful count.”
The supermarket plans to expand the range throughout 2027, with more products set to launch in the New Year.
The launch has also sparked discussion on LinkedIn about whether the meals could appeal to people taking GLP-1 weight-loss medications.
One person said it was a “brilliant marketing move to tap into the GLP-1 medication consumer trend”.
Another added: “Yup, GLP1 friendly!!”
