A woman in her late twenties has revealed that she’s entirely grey and despite being bullied for it as a child she’s learning to finally embrace it.
Ashley Sukru noticed her first silver lock when she was just 14 years old.
Her classmates soon pointed it out and began to tease her for it; leaving the then teen plucking and dyeing any strands back to black.

Now, though, she’s learned to embrace her natural hair and has put the box dye aside for good; with a celebratory clip racking up 2.3m views and 36,000 likes.
“My initial grey grow-out attempt was a [few years ago],” the early childhood educator told What’s The Jam.

“I started posting on Instagram, and I was getting lots of positive messages, and that’s the time I found the ‘silver sisters’ community.
“My family was also very supportive, which helped in the process.
“Unfortunately, I did go and get highlights put in at my full year grow-out, and it changed the texture and colour, so I box dyed it black.

“This is actually my second time growing out my grey hair.
“I’m officially one year dye-free as of this month.
“I get stopped all the time [by people] asking if I dye it that way or if it’s natural.

“People say things like: ‘It makes your eyes pop’ and ‘It’s a beautiful silver’ or ‘It complements your skin tone.’
“At the end of the day, I love my silver hair and feel so proud of finally not being ashamed of it.”
Ashley, from Canada, whose former natural hair was black, shared a video celebrating being 11 months dye-free.
Users have flocked to the comments to share their reactions.
One person said: “The silver is insanely gorgeous!”
Another person added: “I am glad the algorithm brought me to your page. I am 37 and always dye my hair every month to cover the grey, but honestly, I will consider letting it be just as it is after seeing yours. You are so pretty btw.”
One user said: “You look like a Marvel superhero!”

Someone else commented: “I love seeing content like this because I want to stop dyeing my hair!!!”
Dana said: “My hair looks a lot like this and I love it! People ask me every day, if I colored my hair to make it look like this!”

Ashley added: “When you start your grey hair journey, it can be scary.
“But you will notice how much more self-love you have for yourself. “
Patience is key, and I’ve never felt more confident before.
“I’m not hiding myself anymore to please the social norm.
“Find your community, connect with other women and men growing out their greys, as connecting with others is important.
“Also, remember to document your progress.
“I love looking back and seeing the transition.”
