“It makes people smile and my family smiles too and that’s all that matters.

“I love doing my best to give my children stockings from Santa.

“Me and my husband don’t even buy for each other as we put everything into the kids.

“Being able to spend time with them and seeing them happy is the most important thing to me. It’s the magic for me.

“This is like a sacred room to me, we come in and watch movies together, it’s a happy place for us.”

The college administrator adds ornaments to the tree to remember loved ones her family has lost.

She said: “My dad passed away a couple of years ago so he has a special ornament.

“My son lost one of his best friends so he has an ornament.”

Despite a few critics, Cassie says most people are supportive.

She said: “I’ve had a Christmas card and postcard put through the door from people supporting me.

“And children love it too.

“So many people look in and smile.

“For me that sends a tingle inside and you feel happy that you’ve made someone smile as they walk by.”

But Cassie’s family still celebrates Halloween.

She added: “We do all the pumpkins, we’re just surrounded by Christmas at the same time.

“If I could I would probably have it up all the time, when you have the tree lights on while watching a film, I could do that all the time.”

Locals have been full of praise.

One said: “It’s her house, her decision, nobody else’s business.

“If it brings a smile to children passing her house even better.”

Another added: “Good for her.

“Some hotels have got their decorations up for Turkey and Tinsel breaks.

“I keep some musical carousels on display all year round.”

And a third said: “Her choice, her home and a few more people should try making people smile.

“I love it.”

Not everyone is impressed, though.

One critic said: “It’ll be covered in dust and she’ll be sick looking at it the week before Christmas.”
