An American tourist says she “couldn’t stop embarrassing herself” during a week-long trip to Scotland.

Angelica Primachenko spent November exploring Edinburgh and Glasgow and says she “fell in love” with both cities.

The 27-year-old shared her experiences online, from trying haggis and raiding Primark to the cringe moments that left her mortified.

One video detailing her mishaps racked up more than 29,000 views.

“As for embarrassing moments…oh, there were a few!” Angelica told What’s The Jam.

“I didn’t realise that most places in Scotland don’t have AC, so asking the hotel receptionist about it definitely made me stand out.

“I also had no idea that it’s considered impolite to eat indoors with a hat on.

“I made several videos inside restaurants wearing one, and people online called me out pretty quickly for it.

“I found that a bit silly, but I learned!”

In the viral clip, Angelica, from Cincinnati, Ohio, said: “For starters, the first night of us being here, the friend that I’m travelling with, we called the downstairs people.

“This is gonna sound so privileged, but hear me when I say this.

“We were like, why is the AC not working? Haha.

“I’m now so embarrassed that I never wanna come back.

“And they were like, we don’t have AC here.

“And we were both like, we feel very dumb now.”

Angelica said she even asked someone where to fill her water bottle, only to be told she could use the hotel sink.

She added: “The reaction to my video online was honestly shocking in the best way.

“The amount of new Scottish followers who joined me on my journey was so encouraging and fun.

“Everyone has been incredibly kind, and truly, Scotland has my heart.”

Angelica fell for the culture, the food and especially the people.

She said: “I absolutely fell in love with both cities.

“Edinburgh’s old charm, the cobblestone streets, the architecture – it truly felt like one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.

“The food was incredible, too!

“But honestly, the people made the trip what it was.

“I found Scottish people to be some of the kindest souls I’ve ever met.”

Angelica said the safety she felt in Scotland shocked her compared to the US.

She said: “In terms of differences compared to the US, the first thing I noticed was how safe I felt.

“As a young woman, I don’t always feel comfortable going places alone at night in the States, but in Scotland I felt completely safe – whether I was on buses, trains, or even walking back to my hotel in the evening.

“Even your tap water is divine.

“I can’t remember the last time I felt comfortable drinking straight from the sink at home.”

Her love for the UK has already brought her back.

Angelica added: “Overall, my experience in the UK was amazing – so much so that I actually just went back this past week for a Scottish wedding in Loch Lomond.

“I would move to Scotland in a heartbeat.

“Edinburgh is still probably my favorite of all the places I visited.

“I especially loved Victoria Street – even though I know the locals are tired of the Harry Potter references, I was absolutely thriving.

“We had some of the best food and coffee there, and visiting Edinburgh Castle was just breathtaking.”
