Heading to his local Aldi to pick up ingredients, Elliot opted for spaghetti costing 28p, butter costing £1.89, 55p garlic granules and 49p parsley to finish.
In a viral clip, which racked up one million views and more than 33,000 likes, Elliot is seen boiling the spaghetti with a pinch of salt and lightly frying butter in a pan.
He adds garlic granules and parsley before draining the pasta and mixing everything together.
Split between a family of four, the meal works out at just 80p per person – and most of the ingredients can be used in further meals.
“Butter spaghetti is delicious and very cheap and easy to make,” Elliot, from Preston, Lancashire, told What’s The Jam.

“All you need is a pack of spaghetti, four tablespoons of butter, some crushed garlic or garlic granules and some parsley.
“Both can be bought for very cheap at Aldi.
“Boil some water in a pan and add a bit of salt then add half a pack or a third of spaghetti.

“Boil for ten minutes and then put some butter and lightly fry in a pan, stirring occasionally.
“Add your garlic or sprinkle some garlic granules on and mix it all in.
“Then add the parsley and mix all that in too.
“The herbs cost £1.10 total from Aldi, but because you’re only using a sprinkle each time, it literally costs pennies and really enhances the favour of your meal.
“Once the spaghetti is cooked, drain it and then add it to the pan and mix it all in with the butter, parsley and garlic.
“Stir it all in and then toss the spaghetti so it’s all mixed in very well
“Add a bit more parsley as well if you prefer.
“You now have delicious spaghetti with a buttery sauce, nice and seasoned and it’s all very cheap as well.
“Add parmesan cheese if you want it and then store in the fridge for later use.
“[It] will go well with a nice piece of meat.”
Viewers rushed to add their own tips on how to make the budget meal even tastier.
One person said: “If you put a small ladle of pasta water in the sauce it’ll become thicker and glossier.
“Also grow your own herbs for extra savings.”

Someone else said: “Add some of the pasta water and a grating of cheese and/or a splash of milk to give it more of a saucy consistency.
“The pasta water adds thickness.”
A third person added: “I do this but with olive oil and sometimes add prawns.”

Someone else said: “Literally seen this and just made it.
“It was super nice, thanks for the idea, I added some sweet chilli.”
A fifth person added: “Yummy.
“My kids love butter pasta.
“Once you I have spices in the cupboard you can make so much.”
