A savvy food shopper has revealed how to save on spices by simply switching aisles.

Claire Milne shared her clever supermarket hack after discovering that shoppers are forking out way more than they need to on everyday seasonings like paprika, chilli powder and ground ginger.

Instead of picking them up in the condiments aisle, the 27-year-old says the trick is to head straight to the World Foods section – where prices are often a fraction of the cost.

In her video, she showed how paprika priced at 43p per 10g in the condiments aisle drops to just 10p per 10g in the World Foods aisle.

Even Asda’s own-brand version – at 21p per 10g – couldn’t compete.

The same goes for chilli powder, which costs around 45p per 10g in the regular aisle, but only 12p per 10g when bought from the World Foods section.

And it’s not just those two.

Ground ginger was another big saving, falling from 67p per 10g (or 35p for Asda’s version) to just 10p per 10g when bought from the cheaper shelf.

“So, when you’re buying your seasoning or spices, you don’t want to go to the condiments aisle,” Claire, from Aberdeen, told What’s The Jam.

“You instead want to go to the World Foods aisle – this will save you so much money.

“In the condiments aisle, this paprika costs 43p per 10 grams, or Asda’s own brand costs 21p per 10 grams.

“But if you go to the World Foods aisle, you can get this pouch of paprika for only 10p per 10 grams.

“It’s the same for chilli powder. In the condiments aisle, it’s 45p per 10 grams, but in the World Foods aisle, it’s 12p per 10 grams – that’s literally a quarter of the price.

“One more example for you: this ground ginger is 67p per 10 grams, and Asda’s is 35p per 10 grams. In the World Foods section, it’s only 10p per 10 grams.

“So, as you can see, it’s definitely much cheaper to buy your seasonings this way.

Followers were quick to thank Claire for her clever hack, with a commenter saying: “Oh wow I love this! Never heard anyone mention this before, thanks for sharing!”
