A Brit living in Australia has shared the clever hack she uses to get her favourite clothes shipped over for just £4.
Beth Hackman left the UK with just an 80 litre back pack but once she’d settled, she realised she needed a much more practical wardrobe for the Australian winter and her new job.
Rather than splashing out on brand-new clothes, the 25-year-old came up with an ingenious solution after spotting that second-hand marketplace Vinted had launched in Australia.

With the help of mum Mel, 48, she was able to get 8kg of clothes shipped from thousands of miles away.
“I was going to buy new but didn’t want to spend the money when I could literally picture what I wanted to wear from my own wardrobe,” Beth, from Windsor, Berkshire, told What’s The Jam.
“It’s also more sustainable.
“I saw an advert online that Vinted was being rolled out in Australia so I searched for my mum’s account and realised I could buy things from the UK.”
Instead of paying more than £150 for international luggage shipping, Beth created a new email address because her old one was linked to her UK Vinted account, and registered with an Australian mobile number.
While on FaceTime together, her mum listed bundles of Beth’s own clothes on her UK Vinted account for just £1 each. Beth then purchased the bundles herself through her Australian account.
Because Vinted is currently offering free shipping as part of its Australian rollout, Beth paid just £1 ($2.76) per parcel in fees.
She split her belongings across four parcels due to the platform’s 2kg weight limit, meaning it cost her around £4 in total to send roughly 8kg of clothing, shoes and jackets halfway across the world.
The parcels arrived just nine days later, allowing Beth to reunite with the clothes she had left behind.
Physiotherapist Beth said: “Normal shipping for a suitcase or box is over £150 for a decent amount and it would take a while.
“I have about 8kg in total of clothes, shoes and jackets.
“It’s mainly my gym sets that I wanted.”
“This is the first time I’ve done it as it’s just been rolled out, but I’ve got all my friends and boyfriend to do it too.
“It was mainly my own idea, I’m fairly good at finding a bargain and was so into using Vinted at home.
“I’ve made over £3,000 in sales.”
Beth moved to Sydney in March in search of better job opportunities and the chance to travel.
She has since shared the hack on TikTok and the video has racked up more than 86,000 likes, and followers have praised the money-saving idea.
One person said: “Delete this sis. Vinted is about to take away their free postage.”
A third person added: “Girl, you’re living in the year 3000, love this hack.”
Another commentor said: “I use Vinted all the time to send parcels to friends. It is so much cheaper.”
Someone else said: “I was wondering when people would cotton on to this. I mentioned to my friend in USA to do the same – only costs £5 – £10 for postage.”
A fifth person added: “Oh my God, what an absolute hack. I miss my clothes more than anything.”
