A woman has revealed how she and her sisters travelled abroad for a spa day, claiming it was “cheaper” than visiting one in the UK.
For a luxurious day of relaxation, Lili Foskett and sisters Hayley and Kerry flew all the way to Romania to visit the Therme Bucharest wellness centre, rather than going to a local spa.
And despite spending £180 each on travel, food and drinks, and, of course, the spa itself, Lili says the excursion was cheaper than comparable spas close to home.

“I personally find UK spas to be an obscene amount of money for what you get,” Lili, from West Sussex, told Luxury Travel Daily.

“By visiting the biggest spa in Europe for less than £200 including travel, I feel this was much better value.
“The sheer size, wellness areas, pools, saunas and lounge options were far better than any UK spa I’ve been to.
“I’m also a massive travel addict, so the opportunity to visit another country was a big selling point for me, along with the fact that this spa is miles better, cheaper and larger than a typical UK spa day.”
The sisters set off on a 7am flight from Stansted to Bucharest earlier this month, arriving at midday local time and jumping in a taxi to the spa.

There, they spent six hours luxuriating in one of Europe’s top spas, spending just £33 each to access the centre – which includes three large-scale areas with various themed saunas and pools.
Lili and her sisters flew back home on the 10 pm flight to Stansted.
She added: “It was a long day, but 100% worth it.

“It’s a fraction of the price you’d pay for an epic spa in the UK, it’s fun, something different and ticks off another country.
“I thoroughly enjoyed it and believed it was excellent value for money.”
In total, she spent £180, covering return flights for £85, £20 on airport parking, £33 on spa access, £6 on taxis, £24 for food, drinks, a massage bed and cocktails in the spa, and £12 for food and water at the airport.
Lili said: “Therme is genuinely one of the best spa experiences I’ve had.
“It was amazing value for money, super enjoyable, and a unique way to spend a day abroad.
“For just £33, you get full-day access to all areas, and I added food, drinks, a massage bed and still only spent around £24 extra.
“You can’t beat that for a full day of luxury.
“I am even looking at going back again – it’s way cheaper than similar experiences in the UK!”
