A travel lover stayed in what is believed to be the cheapest Airbnb in the world – which costs just £1.75 per night.

Nacho Barrueco pre-booked the property ahead of his trip to Bangkok, Thailand.

He said it caught his eye because of the price.

The ex-teacher turned travel influencer added: “I just had to do it.

“I’m going to sleep in the cheapest place in the world.”

In his video, Nacho was welcomed by the Thai host who showed him around the shack-like property – complete with bin bags piled by the door.

He climbed a ladder to the first floor and walked along a rickety platform to his room.

“How dangerous,” he joked.

“Well, well, well, wonderful. Private room, mosquito net, fan, lots of scent.”

The floor was marked with signs telling guests to not step on certain areas in case they plunged through the boards.

Nacho said: “The thing is, there are so many holes, if I step too hard here, I’ll end up down there.”

He then visited the outside kitchen and ‘gym’, a simple squat stand next to a sack trolley and a single dumbbell.

He said: “We’ve done enough crazy things for today, I think.”

Nacho, who comes from Madrid, Spain, shared the clip on TikTok where it went viral with 1.2m views and hundreds of comments.

He told What’s The Jam: “The price varied depending on the room, in total I paid £3.50 (€4) for two nights, which is equivalent to £1.75 (€2) per night.

The 26-year-old, who worked at a primary school but now works remotely while travelling the world, added: “I was quite struck by the modest nature of the neighbourhood and the accommodations on offer.

“The experience from the moment I arrived until I settled in was very powerful and made me appreciate the owner’s efforts.

“The most striking thing was the authenticity of the place: it felt like I was stepping back in time.

“I was also struck by how the owner tried to maintain everything as well as possible, despite the state of the neighbourhood.

“I even thought about staying for a third night, but there was no availability.”

He added: “It’s a video I’m quite proud of because it shows the reality of Thailand.”

One local said: “In Madrid they charge you €200 a night.”

“I saw a young man using the resources at his disposal and putting all his effort into starting a business, I hope he does well and one day has a profitable inn,” added Erika.

Judd remarked: “The fact they printed your name and laminated it is incredible, not even in the best hotels do that!”
