Ever wanted to experience life off-grid in a traditional earthen home?

Now you can.

An “earthen home” refers to a structure, typically a house, that is built with earth and is either partially or entirely underground.

This hogan – a traditional Navajo Indian earthen hut – is made of sand, wood, mud and oak.

And it is set in a stunning valley surrounded by beautiful scenery.

An overnight stay includes being looked after by a local native family, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Visitors to the Mother Earth ‘Turquoise’ Hogan can experience a completely open space, with enough room to sleep six guests in three beds.

The restroom is located outside and the portable toilet comes with automatic sensory lights, hand sanitiser and sanitising wipes.

The owners have two horses, three dogs, a tomcat and some chickens.

Sheep, horses and cows are also often close by.

There is a short, self-guided hiking trail close to the accommodation which gives walkers a stunning review of the desert at sunset or sunrise.

And if you did need to charge a phone or be able to contact home, the house comes with an electric power outlet for lighting, charging and a kettle.

Wifi is also available but not guaranteed, and the family can provide a small, continental breakfast, as well as dinner, upon request.

The home is located in Monument Valley on the border of Utah and Arizona, within the Navajo Nation, known for its towering sandstone buttes.

The Navajo Nation, also known as Navajoland, is an Indian reservation of Navajo people in the United States.

It occupies portions of northeastern Arizona, northwestern New Mexico, and southeastern Utah.

Prices start at £127 a night, but if you stay for a week, you can get 10% off.
