A flight attendant has revealed the secret to a perfect plane journey – including which seat to book and the key item to always pack in your carry-on.
Esther Sturrus, who has worked for Dutch airline KLM since 2020, is spilling the tea for travellers.
She has tips for people who like a quiet flight and those who tend to get cold under the air conditioning.

And the 24-year-old, who often shares hacks with her 223,100 TikTok followers, has even lifted the lid on where flight attendants take their naps on long haul flights.
“If you’re someone who prefers peace and quiet, avoid sitting near the galleys or restrooms,” Esther told What’s The Jam.

“Use seat maps when booking your ticket – it makes a big difference.
“I always tell people a bit of planning goes a long way in making your flight more comfortable.”
Esther, who dreamed of working for airlines when she was young girl, also suggested one item that passengers should always have in their hand luggage.

She said: “Planes can get chilly, even in summer.
“A lightweight scarf is versatile.
“It works as a blanket, a pillow, or even a privacy screen if you want to sleep.

“It’s one of my must-haves, and I recommend it to everyone.”
As well as helping out passengers with her handy tips, Esther, who previously worked for TUI, spilled flight attendant secrets too.
In a video which was shared on her social media and attracted 1.7m views, Esther revealed that staff often take naps in the crew bunk.
She recorded herself laying down on a bed in a quiet part of the plane as she got cosy with a blanket.
In the caption, she joked: “Sleeping in the crew bunk for two hours knowing that I’ll be serving 200 sandwiches after waking up.”
Esther’s video was popular among her followers.
Chantell said: “How do you apply to get a job like that? I’ve been looking but nothing.”
Gee said: “Do you get paid while sleeping – I’m actually curious?”

“That looks so cozy though,” added Natalie.
Chanel said: “The flashbacks. I was crew for Emirates. By the time you drift off, someone’s waking you up saying it’s time for service. Painful memories.”
“I swear the best sleep I get is in crew rest,” a fifth viewer added.
