An ex-flight attendant has revealed the three items cabin crew must carry with them onboard by law.

Skye Taylor often hits the headlines with her expert travel tips and tricks, and secrets.

The 50-year-old, from Southampton, recently revealed the “dangerous” influencer trends that drive cabin crew “crazy”.

Now, she’s divulged the three items flight attendants must take with them before jetting off, by law.

“Number one is obviously [a] passport,” Skye, who worked for Virgin Atlantic for 16 years, told What’s The Jam.

“Even though some people think we don’t need that, we do.

“A torch [is a must-have].

“We need to carry two torches, and we do have torches on the aircraft as well in case of an emergency.

“But we have to carry a personal torch as well.

“And the other thing is a [resuscitation] face mask in case anybody goes into cardiac arrest.

“Which, sadly, I’ve had to use three times in my career.”

Skye says these items must be on their person at all times.

And she thinks other passengers should carry certain items, like a face mask, with them whenever travelling, too.

She said: “I think everyone should carry something like [a face mask] to be honest.

“It’s always on our person, so if something does happen, we’re the first to respond because we know we’ve got what is needed.

“It’s basically a medical mask that’s given to us in training, and that’s in our crew bags as well.

“The other, [less minor] thing that the crew carry with them is a water bottle.

“We’re constantly dehydrated.

“And our vaccination certificates, for things like yellow fever, we have to keep them in our bag.

“Your purse, which contains every currency on the planet, and personal stuff, like photos, even though they’re on our phones.

“Adapters and chargers [are a must as well].

“I’ve spent so much money on the amount of adapters I’ve lost over the years.

“But the most important thing we carry is our hot water bottle; every crew member has one.

“It can get quite chilly up there, depending on the aircraft.”

Skye lists a blanket, pyjamas, lip balm and anti-bacterial wipes as other bits and bobs for cabin crew to pack ahead of a long flight.

She notes that while they’re given food on the plane, some members bring aboard homemade food to share with their colleagues.

And although they walk to the gate wearing heels, these are quickly switched for flats ahead of takeoff.

Skye added: “You can get quite a lot of things in that crew bag.

“In the old days, we used to take our makeup off for a rest, and then put it back on [when going back to work].

“You spend most of your life putting your hair up into a bun, so hairpins [are crucial].

“And tights, because no one has ever invented a pair that doesn’t rip.”
