In one of her recent videos, she astounds viewers by emphasizing the importance of sunscreen during flights.
And the significance of keeping window blinds shut.
With over 29,000 views and numerous likes, the video has garnered attention.
“Apply sunscreen to exposed areas or ensure the plane windows remain closed throughout the flight,” advised Heather, based in Houston, Texas, US, in an interview with What’s The Jam.
“Although UVB rays causing sunburns don’t penetrate windows, UVA rays do, leading to skin aging and cancer.

Sunscreen application timing varies based on sun exposure duration.
“When using mineral sunscreen, apply it just before sun exposure,” Heather recommended.
“When using chemical sunscreen, apply it roughly 20 minutes prior to sun exposure.

“I don’t insist on reapplication during a flight unless you’re sweating or washing it off your hands.
“In such cases, reapply every two hours or after washing it off,” Heather explained.
Besides sunscreen, Heather suggested additional methods to enhance skin health during travel.
“Airplane cabins can dehydrate skin due to low humidity.
“Hydrate your skin and lips abundantly.
“UVA rays can penetrate through most windows, including those at home and in cars.
“In the US, individuals tend to develop more skin cancers on the left side of their face due to the left-side driver’s window.
“You can install UV-protective film on your car (and home) windows.
“Alternatively, consider wearing sun-protective UPF gloves while driving.
“If light penetrates through your clothing when held up to the light, UV rays may also be penetrating it.
“For outdoor activities during the day, opt for tight-knit, opaque clothing.
“Don’t be fooled by cloudy days; UV rays are still prevalent, so sunscreen is essential.”
