In a follow-up video, Dr. Daria demonstrates the common habit of using a phone on the toilet.
While miming a monster, she humorously refers to colorectal cancer as the potential consequence, saying, “When you use your phone while sitting in the toilet, you get very distracted and lose track of time – which makes it a lot more likely that you’ll spend 10+ minutes on the toilet.”
She continues, “This puts unnecessary pressure on your rectum, which can lead to things like haemorrhoids and diverticulosis. Which can then lead to diverticulitis and increase your risks of getting colorectal cancer.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), colorectal cancer is defined as a disease where cells in the colon or rectum experience uncontrolled growth.
