A mother has revealed that she looked like Quagmire from Family Guy after her wisdom teeth were removed with no aftercare, leaving her in hospital for a week on the brink of sepsis.
Thalia George was left in excruciating pain and huge swelling in her cheeks after she was given no medicine following an hour-long procedure.
The 31-year-old’s entire face changed after the wisdom teeth were removed – with people stating she looked like cartoon weirdo Quagmire, a neighbour of Peter Griffin in the TV comedy.

The personal assistant was handed no antibiotics after the surgery, leaving her in intense pain and unable to eat.
“I was swollen up to my eyes, shaking, being sick and rocking back and forth in pain,” Thalia, from Hornchurch, Essex told What’s The Jam.
“I could not eat a thing, I felt weak and I was in agony. Painkillers were not helping and my face was so hot to touch.

“I had to do the school run with a scarf wrapped round my cheeks.
“The swelling lasted five days before I was crying in agony and rocking back and forth on the floor.

“I was concerned as I had spoken to numerous people and checked forums prior to the surgery and antibiotics seemed to be a standard aftercare for many.”
Thalia was advised to have both her wisdom teeth removed at Guy’s Hospital in London after she suffered recurring infections.
The mother-of-one was sedated during the hour-long operation and was quite “delirious” when leaving the hospital.

At the time, she was not prescribed any aftercare or antibiotics, claiming she was only advised to take painkillers.
The morning after, her face had swollen up completely – changing the shape – with the pain reaching unbearable levels.
Two days later, Thalia decided to call the hospital helpline, who referred her to her dentist due to them reportedly being fully booked.
With no appointments available, the personal assistant tried to push through the pain but five days later, her partner Jordan rushed her down to A&E.
She was later admitted to Queens hospital, Romford, where she would spend the next week recovering after doctors believed she was suffering with sepsis.
Thalia said: “They took blood tests and advised me that I needed to stay in due to the infection counter that came back on my blood results.
“I had to have a specialist and a surgeon come down to the hospital in Romford for an opinion on my face.
“They were unsure whether I needed surgery to drain the infection or not.

“The surgeon at Queens hospital could not believe I had not been given antibiotics.
“I had to have a very strong course of antibiotics and drip.
“I had to work from home and join Teams calls with no camera on for around three weeks after I was discharged from hospital.
“It took about six weeks in total from surgery to being able to go out and feel comfortable in public.
“Needless to say, I now fear ever going to the dentist again.”
The assessment took place in 2022 but long waiting lists for the procedure pushed the procedure back until 11 Mar 2025.
