In the clip, which has garnered 16,500 views, Dr Sooj reveals: “How should you keep your ears clean? You don’t.
“Your ears are actually self-cleaning.”
Despite many people using cotton buds, the doctor warned that these should never be inserted in the ear.
He said: “You shouldn’t put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear – including cotton buds.
“You can get a cotton flannel and wipe around the outside of the ear but if you have any problems, you need to see a doctor or nurse, and we will tell you what to do.”

The GP says the issue comes up frequently.
“It’s quite common to see people in general practice with ear wax that has been impacted against their eardrums,” Doctor Sooj told What’s The Jam.
“[It can] lead to hearing difficulties, tinnitus, and even dizziness!”
