Tom Kerridge angered foodies over the pronunciation of ‘scone’ with one left so unhappy they said they were boycotting him.
The TV chef shared a summer recipe bizarrely served with beer poached strawberries.
The way ‘scone’ is said has always divided opinion among Brits.

Northerners believed it should rhyme with ‘gone’, but Southerners think it sounds like ‘bone’.
Kerridge, 50, said it’s the latter which upset fans.
He said: “You’ve all had them before, you all think they are lovely.
“It is scones.
“That is a ‘skone’. Not a ’skon’.

“Anybody else disagree with that?
“Just go and watch somebody’s else’s video.”
But Kay Brownlie fumed: “Scone as in gone – Queen’s English.

“I will now go watch someone else.
“Unfortunately you are deleted as are all your books.”
Neil Dutton added: “Skon. There’s no ‘a’ in it. “I bet you say ‘Barth’ as well, chef?”
Another – named Lorna – said: “Scone as in gone, but I’ll forgive your mispronunciation.”
But Lousie Hill agreed with Kerridge who owns nine restaurants in the UK and has three Michelin stars.
She said: “Yummy, deffo scones not scons.”
Kerridge – who has appeared on Masterchef and Saturday Kitchen – put cream on the first.
The option of that or jam to start with is also divisive among scone lovers.
Geraldine Baldry said: “Definitely a scone not a scon, but I’m afraid jam first for me.”
Another added: “Cream first.”
Kerridge made the recipe to coincide with Wimbledon which started on Monday (1 Jul).
In May, Kerridge hiked the price of his posh fish finger sandwich at his Harrods restaurant, from £18 to £27, as reported by What’s The Jam.
In October last year, he sparked anger by charging £37 for fish and chips at the same posh eatery.
