The online fitness coach and podcast host wrote: “Imagine having a billion dollars and hiring a trainer that lets you do half rep pull-ups with the band around your feet.”
He claimed: “Training like that will never result in being able to do full unassisted pull-ups.
“And band around both feet is dumb.

“Have seen many people fall and hurt themselves like this.
“Around one foot or one knee is appropriate if you’re going to use the band assist at all.”

Fellow trainers hit back in the comments.
One person said: “Former certified trainer here.
“When I first started weightlifting, this is exactly how I started training pull ups, modifying less and less over time.

“I can do unassisted pull ups now.
“They even have literal assisted pull up machines for this reason, which, I agree are safer, but she’s literally being watched/held in place by the trainer here and this is a legit modification.
“Your info is not accurate and you’re just trying to tear others down.
“This just shows you’re not a safe trainer for women.”
Another person said: “Personally I wouldn’t hire a trainer that criticizes others.

“This post is doing nothing for your reputation.”
Someone else added: “Did you watch this episode?
“She states quite clearly that upper body strength does not help her performances.
“She makes it pretty clear that doing an unassisted pull up is not her goal.
“Maybe do your homework before you mansplain in gym bro.
“If you want to bash a billionaire, I can think of quite a few who have committed way worse crimes than this.
“By the way, none of Taylor Swift’s employees are eligible for snap benefits because she actually shares her wealth.”
A fourth person said: “Poor character doing this.
“Personally I started doing pull ups like this and did progress to normal ones just fine.
“Sorry you are bitter for not having celebrity clients.”
Someone else added: “Daniel, my friend.

“Fellow longtime coach here.
“The band set-up is just fine. It being ‘dumb’ is subjective, doesn’t make it wrong.
“And I’ve literally never seen anyone fall or hurt themselves like that across 30 years in the gym.
“Better ways? Sure.
“Can an assisted pull-up lead to a functional unassisted?
“Well, of course it could in a proper progression.
“That’s the whole point of motor skill progression.
“Take care, Brother. I’m sure you are doing good work, just don’t agree here.”
