Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has left Italians fuming after adding leeks to a traditional dish.
The controversial cook has come under fire for adding the unusual ingredient to his take on a carbonara.
By swapping out the classic guanciale for leeks, 49-year-old Jamie has given the pasta-based dish a ‘veggie twist’, as reported by What’s The Jam.

The recipe includes two large leeks, four cloves of garlic, four sprigs of thyme, one egg, butter, spaghetti and Parmesan or vegetarian hard cheese.

The meal should take around 50 minutes to make, and the entire dish is 418 calories.
But despite being praised for his vegetarian meals, Italians have been left raging.
Therese Capece said, “It’s a good dish, but it isn’t carbonara. Carbonara is eggs, pecorino, pepper and guanciale.”

Adrian Gabrus said: “Nothing about this recipe is carbonara related. Just don’t call it that. Call it something else.”
