A dad has shared the clever way he tried to coax his child into tidying up their bedroom – by posing as the ‘Tooth Fairy’.
The parent, who didn’t share his name but lives in the US, penned his daughter a letter from the fantasy figure in a last-ditch effort to get her to tidy up.
Posing as the beloved fairy, he urged her to consider tidying up more, saying the journey to delivering her money for her fallen baby teeth was too perilous to make.

The note has gone viral online, with users commending the dad’s creative parenting – though the plan didn’t quite go to plan.
In the letter, the ‘Tooth Fairy’ explains they were delayed in getting the teeth – with the dad later admitting he had forgotten.
It goes on to say: “The state of your room prevented us from performing a midnight retrieval.
“The first attempt almost resulted in tragedy as one of our agents’ shoes got stuck to something icky on the floor.
“While attempting to free herself, a pile of socks tipped over and nearly suffocated her.

“All the commotion alerted a large yellow dog and our agent had to abort the mission.
“Attempt number two went even worse than that, with our agent tripping upon entry and spraining her left dorsal wing…
“With these events in mind, we were forced to perform a very rare daytime retrieval, which as you can see was a success…”

The letter explains that the Tooth Fairy’s ‘agents’ prefer to operate at night, becoming “grumpy” in the daylight, with agent ‘Greta’ delivering loose change instead of notes as a result.
A picture shared by the dad shows piles of coins to the tune of roughly $2-3, alongside the letter.
The dad said: “The change overflowing was Greta’s way of saying, ‘Here’s your damn money, kid!’.”
The note concludes: “We do hope this exchange can be performed in the usual manner the next time you have teeth to get rid of…”
After leaving the letter for his daughter, the unnamed parent said her room “got ‘better’ but quickly returned to a Tooth Fairy no-go zone” – with the plan ultimately backfiring.
The dad added: “She is 11 and smart as a whip.
“Super sassy and super messy.”
The post went viral on Reddit garnering thousands of reactions.
One person commented: “Omg, I cannot stop laughing. This is brilliant!”
“BRILLIANT response! Wish I thought of it because I’d have saved a lot of $$,” said another person.
“This is fantastic!! I have a messy kid who I straight up forgot to get the last tooth from. She had to remind me to remind the tooth fairy… Going to use my own version of this with the next one, thank you for the idea!” said another viewer.
Someone else added: “What a clever way to encourage your daughter to keep her room clean. Make sure you thank the tooth fairies for their cooperation.”
“This is so cute. I love it,” said another fan.
Another viewer commented: “That was very clever, loved it.”
“A+ parenting right here,” someone else agreed.
