A family’s month-long search for their missing dog has ended in joy after they spotted her being carried by partying fans celebrating Mexico’s World Cup win on TV.
The heartwarming reunion captivated social media, turning a football party into a feelgood story that overshadowed the result on the pitch.
La Gorda, a medium-sized light-coloured dog, had been missing for a full month from her home in Ciudad Victoria, Mexico.

Her desperate owners posted photos and appeals online with fading hope of finding her safe and well, as reported by What’s The Jam.
While watching live footage of fans celebrating Mexico’s win against the Czech Republic, the family immediately recognised their pet being held aloft by a supporter amid the throng.
Crowds were even applauding the dog as she joined the festivities.
Without hesitation, the dog’s owner Ale García rushed to the location, located the exact spot from the broadcast, and reclaimed their dog, who appeared healthy and unharmed.
The emotional homecoming brought tears of relief after weeks of worry.
