Macabre couples can have a romantic Valentine’s Day meal for £170…in old prison cell.

The lovebirds will get a posh, three-course dinner.

Tables are placed in the centre of the cells with candelabras and red roses on the table.

But they are shut in as they still have the original doors with bars on them.

There will be a starter of Tomato “Tartare”, Aged Parmesan, Black Garlic Emulsion, Charcoal Cracker.

They can have Braised Beef Blade, short rib pierogi and Miso braised cabbage for the main course.

Or a vegetarian option of Twice Baked Cheese Souffle, BBQ Leek terrine with white wine watercress sauce.

The pudding is a White Chocolate Mousse, with a Pistachio sponge and raspberries.

The loved up diners also get a bottle of Prosecco included in the price.

The bizarre experience is being offered at Oxford Castle and Prison.

The medieval fort is 951-years-old as it was built in 1073.

Most of it was destroyed in the English Civil War in 1642 to 1651.

It was then turned into Oxford Prison from 1785 until 1996.

Infamous inmates included notorious 18th century murderess Mary Blandy, baby killer Anne Green and Roland Jenkes convicted of libel.

Oxford Castle and Prison has now been made into a tourist attraction.

The Valentine’s Day meal in Green’s cell costs £160, but it’s £170 in Blandy’s or Jenkes’.

Romantic dinners can also be enjoyed for that price in the castle’s Debtors Tower – which has two floors.

They are also offered in its crypt for £180.

A Oxford Castle and Prison spokesperson said: “Dine in style at Oxford Castle and Prison this Valentines Day.

“Choose from 6 unique locations in our historic building, from authentic Georgian prison cells, to the wood and barred environs of Debtors Tower, or for a truly spectacular evening, our 900-year-old Norman crypt.

“Enjoy a delicious 3-course meal, with a complimentary bottle of prosecco included.”
