A man has broken a bizarre world record – for sprinting 100m backwards in high heels.
Christian Roberto López Rodríguez completed the feat in just 16.55 seconds, claiming a Guinness World Record.
The 36-year-old smashed his own previous record of 20.05 seconds, which he had set on the TV show, La Noche De Los Récords.

Footage shows Christian lining up backwards on the track before setting off at lightning pace in a pair of striking blue high heels.
These were matched with blue socks, red shorts and a pink-and-blue long-sleeved top.
The record didn’t come easy.
Christian spent two years mastering his technique, learning to balance and place his weight on the front of his feet to avoid tumbling.
“It is very easy to fall as soon as you put the heels down because it is so tricky to maintain balance,” he told What’s The Jam.

“I try to place my body weight on the front of my feet.
“I have been practising running backwards since I was 27 years old, so it is important to have good preparation in this discipline before attempting something like this.
“I feel so happy to have set a time under 17 seconds running.”

Christian, from Cabañas de la Sagra in Toledo, Spain, who has lived with Type 1 Diabetes since the age of 12, hopes his achievements inspire others to push through challenges.
He added: “If you train hard and believe in yourself, you can achieve many things.”
