A missing cat has showed up his family’s local McDonald’s three years after vanishing.

Buddy disappeared from his family home in 2022.

His owner Ella Bennett said: “We kept hoping he would be back, but then it was a couple days longer than usual.

“That’s when we started to get worried.”

Buddy remained missing for three years until an animal shelter found a “mysterious bundle” in a McDonald’s car park.

The “very matted cat” was then taken back to the Lenawee Humane Society’s shelter in Adrian, located south west of Detroit, Michigan, US.

The shelter was putting the cat up for adoption.

By stroke of luck, Ella spotted the photo of Buddy and thought it could be her missing moggy, as reported by What’s The Jam.

She said: “I immediately sent it to my grandma.

“I was like, ‘that looks just like Buddy,’ and I posted a picture of him on there, and I was like, ‘do you think that could be him?’”

She reached out to the shelter and, after reviewing veterinary records and old photos, they were able to confirm that it was him.

Ella said she was stunned to learn that her cat was found at their local McDonald’s, located about 10 miles from her house.

She was extremely grateful to be able to return home with her long-lost feline.

A Lenawee Humane Society spokesperson said: “His original owner, who had been missing him for the past three years, came across our post and recognised him immediately, even with his new fancy haircut!

“As soon as she saw the post she contacted us and came in to see if it was her missing cat.

“She was overjoyed when she realised it was.”

Ella said Buddy has since been microchipped and will be allowed to venture outside again.

One local said: “Yay, totally just got the chills.”

Aaron added: “When I tell you that this made my whole day, I mean it.

“I wasn’t having a bad day by any stretch. However this was just the perfect topping.”

Lisa remarked: “If only he could talk to tell you of his adventures for the last three years. I’m glad he is home and living the good life.”
