An explorer has left people in shock after discovering a once bustling racetrack that has now been “re-claimed” by nature.
Chloe Urbex, 23, came across the circuit located in Essex after finding it online.
Dating back to 1978, the first race was held in May of that year, with the last in November 2018.

Before its closure, the site was a place for a great family day out, making it a core memory filled with nostalgia for many.
Sadly, according to local reports, Arena Essex closed after 40 years.
The banger race track had faced many race cancellations due to bad weather, lack of support from fans and increased insurance costs.
Now, though, it’s filled with greenery as far as the eye can see after being “re-claimed” by nature.
In a bird’s eye view snap, the track is still carved out with white lines in tack, but appears to be dried out and worn.

Another picture shows the floodlights, which are still standing, yet covered in mossy shrubbery, along with retro advertisements above.
No vehicles have been left behind, but the viewing stand where fans would once spectate and the box office are shown slowly decaying away.
“This track sits abandoned just off an active go kart site,” the urban explorer, from England, told What’s The Jam.

According to reports, the site was purchased in July 2023, but plans for housing were withdrawn.
