A flat for rent is raising eyebrows online after listing pictures showed its bizarre layout.

While the one-bedroom maisonette, on Fallsbrook Road in Furzedown, south west London, appears spacious, light and airy, it has a rather unusual quirk.

The garden is only accessed via the bathroom – meaning guests will have to trek through it to get outside.

Listing pictures show a stairgate leading directly from near the bathtub out onto the patio of the rear garden.

The floor plan shows this is the only way to access the outdoor space, with the other side of the bathroom being an open plan kitchen/dining area.

Not shown on the listing is a separate W/C – so at least you can have more privacy when using the loo.

Users on social media deemed the layout as “bonkers”, reports What’s The Jam.

One person said: “Plus the toilet isn’t in the bathroom so you have to walk through to the kitchen or bathroom with unwashed hands to clean them.

Here’s me hoping it’s one of those toilets with the sink in the top!”

“I like nothing more than having someone stroll through to hang the washing out whilst I’m in the bath,” another user quipped.

Someone else commented: “Awful layout. If they put the kitchen units on the other side they could have had a garden door in the kitchen, then the toilet could go on the back wall in the bathroom.

“Imagine having an upset stomach or a heavy period and the toilet being that far from the sink. Grim.”

The rest of the property is more typical, with a light and bright double bedroom, and a spacious living area with a fireplace.

And, once you’ve made your way through the unusual route to the garden, the outdoor space is pleasant, with a small al fresco dining set, bushes for privacy, and even room for a grill.
