She said Ginger had accumulated nine separate absences in a one-month period without providing justification for taking the time off.
Following the company’s employment policy, she decided to dismiss the nail technician with compensation for six months of service.
The authorities are looking into Ginger’s claim of unfair dismissal.
One local commented: “The law doesn’t take into account the need to ask for permission as sadly she should have checked first.”
Ramon wrote: “It isn’t mandatory for them to give a day off if a family member dies. If she decided not to go to work and was fired for it, she should take responsibility for her decision.”
Carlos said: “What kind of company does that? It’s totally unacceptable.”
