A mum found one of the world’s most dangerous spiders in her toddler’s toy box.
Ellen Martins’ three-year-old son Theo Henrique was bitten on the finger.
He suffered an allergic reaction and she took him to hospital.
Ellen was also able to find the Brazilian wandering spider hidden amongst his toys and catch it.

“And woke up feeling much better, thank God.”
Brazilian wandering spiders – also known as Armed Spiders – are considered one of the most venomous spiders on the planet and can kill humans.
Ellen said: “The symptoms my son presented after the bite were redness all over his body and intense pain.

“He was bitten on his fingertip, it was not visible.
“He was immediately taken to hospital, along with the spider inside a jar, to confirm the species and the risks it posed.”
After the scare, Ellen got in touch with veterinary medicine expert Matheus Silva Mesquita.
He said: “This spider is one of the most venomous in Brazil.
“The big problem with armed spiders is that, unlike other species, they are not very ‘calm’.
“If you accidentally bring your hand close or touch them, they will bite you.
“This happens because they are very defensive.
“Furthermore, the bite causes very strong pain.”
He also praised Ellen for taking her son straight to hospital with the spider in a jar for them to correctly identify.
The mum stated: “Unfortunately, we can’t leave the house closed all day.
“But now, before going to sleep, we look around the bedrooms first and before my son plays in the garden.
“We are more likely to encounter these animals because we live close to a forested area.
“And the fact that my house is very old, made of clay with wooden windows, encourages the animals to enter through the cracks.
“There isn’t much I can do.
“It’s about being careful, keeping the house clean, and counting on divine protection.”
She added: “My son was lucky not to have a serious condition, we believe it was thanks to God.”
