A twister brought a halt to a footy match after hitting the pitch during a live game.
A clip of the phenomenon shows the large dust devil, a relatively short-lived whirlwind, ripping up the playing surface while onlookers scream in shock.
The referee is forced to blow his whistle as players run out of the way of the wind vortex.

Eventually it spins out of view.
The whirlwind appeared at an amateur league match in Ribeirão das Neves in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
The game took place between Botafogo and Flamengo in the municipality’s first division.
Botafogo striker João Paulo explained: “I was substituted and went to look at my phone when, out of nowhere, a whirlwind appeared.
“When I started filming it, the whirlwind continued to grow and I saw people running away from the dust.”

He added that the game was halted for around five minutes before restarting, as reported on What’s the Jam.
No one was hurt during the phenomenon.
Dust devils are usually harmless but can grow large enough to pose a threat to people and buildings on rare occasions.

They are comparable to tornadoes as they are both a rotating column of wind, but they rarely have the same intensity.
Dust devils also usually form as a swirling updraft under sunny conditions.
