A 16-year-old carton of milk washed up on the beach after it drifted 13,000 miles in the sea.

A beachgoer was left stunned by the find.

The woman – called Dani – didn’t think much of her find until she looked more closely.

The expiration date showed the year 2009, with it becoming clear that the milk was over a decade-and-a-half old.

On the packaging, it read ‘Made in Iran’.

This shocked Dani even more, as it meant that the carton had travelled a staggering 13,000 miles to where she found it.

Dani was on a beach in Rocha, northeast of Montevideo, Uruguay at the time.

“We are in Rocha, on the Atlantic beach, and we found this milk,” she said.

“It turns out that it is from Iran.

“And looking at when it arrived, that is, this milk expired in 2009 and we found it in March 2025.

“Incredible.”

Many locals were left shocked at Dani’s discovery, as reported by What’s The Jam.

Some couldn’t believe the fact that the carton looked to be in pristine condition, despite its age and lengthy journey.

Bell said: “How did the colour remain intact?”

Javier added: “Won’t it have a message inside?”

“We assume it’s been 16 years, and it hasn’t disintegrated. The importance of not dumping waste in the sea,” Augustina said.

Lea added: “I once found packets of Chinese yeast in Maldonado.”

“There’s no way that that thing has been floating in the ocean for 16 years,” said Elsal.
