A couple who swapped bricks and mortar for life on the road in a converted double-decker bus are putting their beloved home up for sale after two years of adventure.

Kim and Ted fell in love with the vintage vehicle the moment they saw it and spent months turning it into a fully fitted luxury home on wheels.

Now the travelling pair are ready for a new challenge and have listed the 1966 Scottish Leyland Atlantean for £62,000 (AU$129,000), claiming it’s the only working bus of its kind in the world, as reported by What’s The Jam.

“We are selling her as we want to do another project,” Kim, 60, from Australia, said.

“We fell in love with the bus and wanted to travel and live in her.

“It is a wonderful feeling being able to travel to beautiful destinations and take your home with you.”

The couple spent around £48,400 (AU$100,000) buying and renovating the double-decker and managed to transform it completely in just three months.

Kim said: “We did the bus renovation in three months.

“This included stripping the paint by hand and respraying, sourcing and replacing all window rubbers, as well as stripping the inside.

“Making and fitting stainless steel water tanks, having electrical and plumbing work completed, fitting antique furniture, building a shower and toilet space.”

Despite being nearly six decades old, the bus still “runs and drives beautifully”, according to the listing.

And the stylish interior, packed with vintage furniture and handmade fittings, means the new owners can move straight in.

Kim added: “Living in our luxurious double-decker bus has been a lot of fun – we were surprised how quickly we adapted.”

The one-of-a-kind motorhome comes fully furnished and ready to roll – perfect for anyone dreaming of life on the open road with all the comforts of home.
