A team of computer scientists have launched an AI model that tells you how to build the perfect LEGO structure.
It begins with building your own set – whether that’s a rocket ship or a castle – and labelling each brick with a caption.
Using a model similar to ChatGPT, a prompt is put into the system and the AI works its magic; advising which brick should be placed next.

It was trained using more than 47,000 LEGO structures, featuring 28,000 distinct 3D components, reports What’s The Jam.
According to the study, designs generated were stable 98% of the time.
AI is often used to help with construction, though researchers believe the system – called LegoGPT – is the first of its kind.
The model works by generating a sequence of precisely placed bricks and reworks the blueprint when each new block is placed.
If any parts collapse, it identifies the first unstable brick and backtracks, removing it and all subsequent blocks before trying a different approach.

Currently, it’s restricted to build structures made of one unit tall bricks on a 20x20x20 grid.
It’s only aware of certain objects, such as baskets, beds, benches, bottles and pianos, to name a few, during the demo phase.
The next step will involve other objects, as well as texturing and colouring.
