A rare hypercar made in tribute to Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna is up for sale at a cool £800,000.

The 2020 McLaren Senna GTR is one of just 75 ever produced and has barely been used, clocking just 159 miles.

Its 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine can rocket it from 0–60mph in 2.8 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 210mph.

The car has only had one owner, described as a McLaren VIP, as reported by Whats The Jam.

Its listing reads: “Conceived purely for the circuit, this track-focused hypercar pays tribute to Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna while embodying all of McLaren’s technical expertise.

“Unlike the road-going Senna, which had been the company’s most track-oriented road car, the GTR was liberated from the constraints of road-car regulations and motor sport rules.

“Upon its debut, it was McLaren’s fastest track car outside of a Formula 1 racer, a singular machine where every detail from chassis engineering to aerodynamics and powertrain calibration had been honed to deliver uncompromising driver engagement.”

Powering the car is McLaren’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo M840TR V8, producing 814bhp and 590lb-ft of torque.

With dry-sump lubrication, lightweight pistons and ultra-low-inertia twin-scroll turbochargers, it reaches 0–60mph in less than 2.8 seconds and 0–124mph in under 6.8 seconds.

The GTR boasts upgraded aero, including a reprofiled front splitter with vortex generators and a massive rear wing, creating 2,205 pounds of downforce at 155mph.

The carbon fibre Monocell III-R tub carries over from the road car, while the front track is widened and lightweight forged alloy wheels on bespoke Pirelli slicks replace standard tyres.

Inside, race-focused upgrades include a VBOX HD data logger, car-to-pit radio, FIA-approved six-point harnesses, plexiglass replacing glass, and carbon fibre panels instead of the road car’s signature “side blades” to save weight.

Despite extra racing equipment, the GTR weighs 2,619 pounds, 24 pounds less than the road-going Senna.

The car being offered is the 53rd GTR built, finished in a striking McLaren Special Order Amethyst Black with optional satin carbon fibre sill panels and gloss carbon fibre Aero Blade and canopy panels.

With production limited to just 75 worldwide, the McLaren Senna GTR combines race-bred performance, aerodynamic mastery, and exceptional rarity, making it both a track weapon and a collector’s trophy.

It is being auctioned by RM Sotheby’s in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, in January.
