Queen Elizabeth II is still alive… in an error-strewn tourist sand sculpture display.

The late monarch appears to sit on a throne with Big Ben behind her and a table with tea cups on her side.

The model of her with the quintessentially British backdrop is still in place despite her death almost two years ago.

The plaque in front of the sculpture, made five years ago, hasn’t been updated and contains mistakes.

It appears at the £10-a-ticket Sandy City, in Lagoa, Portugal — popular with holidaying Brits.

The plaque has her name spelt ‘Elisabeth’ and states she is still queen.

Other mistakes include it stating Big Ben was built in 1958, but it was actually the year later.

It reads: “Elisabeth II has been the queen of the United Kingdom for the last 67 years.

“And she is the most emblematic figure of the European monarchy.

“She is sculpted here in front of the tower of Big Ben bell, built in 1858.”

One tourist told What’s The Jam: “The sand sculpture is amazing.

“It really looks like her.

“But they should have updated the plaque out of respect.

She added: “And they should correct the spelling of her name, too.”

“It would not take too much effort for them to do their research as well on British history

Queen Elizabeth died on 8 September 2022, aged 96.

She was on the throne for 70 years and 214 days — the longest reign of any British monarch ever.

Sand City is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Algarve.

More than 60 artists have created over 160 sculptures out of sand.

Others include Cristiano Ronaldo, Paddington Bear, The Simpsons and Star Wars.
