Unable to return to where he entered, he eventually saw a distant light shining through a manhole cover on an overhead street.
Antonio decided to remain in that spot and scream for help.
Local residents said they could hear faint shouts of a man in the area, but couldn’t determine where it was coming from.
He reportedly hollered for three days before a passing woman eventually heard his cries and was able to locate where he was.
She immediately informed the authorities and Antonio was safely lifted out of the sewer.
The rescue took place in the city of León northwest of Mexico City, in Mexico.
Antonio was sent to a nearby hospital for medical checks, as reported by Need To Know.
There have been no further updates on his current health status.
Two videos of Antonio being found in the sewer have gone viral on TikTok with 4.6m and 1.3m views respectively.
One local commented: “The Adventures of Antonio.”
Jessica said: “What a nightmare for him, the good thing is he’s okay now.”
