Huge bauble-shaped hailstones have covered a capital city white, leaving locals thinking Christmas came early this year.
After enjoying a long hot summer, residents were stunned to wake up to the bizarre wintry scenes.
Heavy rain and hailstones battered the Mexican capital Mexico City, causing icy conditions and floods in several boroughs.

Locals had to use shovels to clear the icy roads in the municipality of Álvaro Obregón.
At least one tree was uprooted in the same area.
Streets were covered white after being pounded by the huge hailstones on Friday (30 Aug).
The emergency services rescued three motorists affected by the floods in Calzada de las Águilas, Las Haciendas, and Colina del Sur.
The authorities issued an Orange Alert in the municipalities of Álvaro Obregón, Cuajimalpa and La Magdalena Contreros for continued rainfall this week.

They advised citizens to close all doors and windows, and avoid using any flooded streets.
Locals are advised to wear a reflective jacket if travelling by bicycle or motorbike.
Meanwhile, car users should keep their lights on at all times, reduce their speed, and keep a safe distance from other vehicles.

So far, the authorities have yet to report any injuries but remain on alert for any emergency callouts, as reported by What’s The Jam.
One local commented: “I didn’t get out of my car the whole time.”
Another said: “This is a taste of the changes that will come with the meteorological autumn, we can’t wait for the summer to end here in the northwest.”
