They started pulling, but the balloon was swept forwards by a strong gust of wind.
The helpers were dragged along the ground while trying to slow down the wayward balloon.
Meanwhile, the tourists clutched on to the side of the basket in fear.
The group eventually managed to bring the balloon under control, and it was seen touching down in a field when the clip came to an end.
The scary scenes were filmed in Teotihuacán, located near Mexico City, Mexico, on Tuesday (15 Apr).

Despite the tense moments in the air and on the ground, no one was injured in the incident, as reported by What’s The Jam.
José Alfredo Benítez, spokesperson for Al Sol Globos, said the pilot crashed into the trees on purpose to slow down the wayward hot air balloon.
He said: “It was a calculated landing, they were planning it before reaching the trees.

“As the video shows, the passengers aren’t visible as they are ducking down to avoid contact with the branches because they were warned beforehand.”
The video went viral on TikTok with 6.7m views and nearly 7,000 comments.
One local said: “The passengers were in shock.”
Another added: “The people who helped were awesome!”
“The theory that the cameraperson never helps is true,” remarked a third.
Grace said: “Look how the balloon drags them along the ground!”
Jean added: “One of my dreams is to help stop a hot air balloon.”
