Baffling footage has revealed how customers got into a vicious scrap over furniture at an IKEA closing-down sale.

One man had just begun wheeling away a trolley when a smirking woman sprinted in and snatched it from his grip.

A three-way tug-of-war then erupted between two men and a woman over a second trolley, with sharp words exchanged.

The stronger man emerged victorious and made off with the trolley, while the other man and his wife managed to retain their swivel chair.

In the background, other bargain hunters can be seen in the video stripping the store of the remaining furniture on sale.

The bizarre scenes came after IKEA made a shock announcement earlier this month that it would close seven of its large warehouse-style stores across major Chinese cities next Monday (2 Feb).

The Swedish retail giant cited global economic uncertainty, the digital wave, and changing customer behaviour, as reported by What’s The Jam.

IKEA clarified that its other stores in the affected cities would remain open and added that its focus would shift from “large-scale expansion” to “precise penetration”.

It is not clear which store the recent scenes of chaos took place in.

One viewer said: “Just do two things right: don’t damage the products and pay the store. Everything else doesn’t need to happen.”

Another joked: “Honestly, I’d be grabbing stuff too if it were limited edition. Wait… is IKEA even a luxury brand?! Judging by the footage, it totally looks like a rare drop.”

And a third quipped sarcastically: “If you love your country, stick to domestic stuff – so why are people fighting over foreign products? Don’t they even love their country?!”
