Balenciaga has been mocked for selling a skirt made out of one of its scarves…but its charging three times the price.

The trendy fashion chain has the long neckwear for sale for £625.

The Women’s Scarf in Brown is part of its new Spring 25 Collection.

But Balenciaga is also flogging the Women’s Scarf Skirt in Brown.

The wool garment has the same pattern and looks identical.

But it costs £1,890 – which is £1,265 more than just the scarf – and just over three times more.

One shopper fumed: “Its barmy.

“Even if you had a spare £625 to buy a scarf, you’d be better off making the skirt yourself out of it.

“I’m going to stick my neck out and say hard-up Brits won’t be buying one.”

Both garments are available for pre-order on Balenciaga’s website.

The scarf product description reads: “Houndstooth wool and polyamide maxi scarf.

“Fringes at bottom, can be wrapped around the body.

“Made in Italy.”

The one for the scarf skirt reads: “Houndstooth wool and polyamide.

“High waist, fringed hem, zip and hook closure.

“Snaps under front panel, below-the-knee length

“Asymmetrical bottom, long side panel.”

Last November, Balenciaga started selling a skirt that looked like a towel wrapped around the wearer for £695.

The fashion line is popular with A-listers like Kim Kardashian and England and Man City ace Jack Grealish.

Yet it faced a backlash in 2022, for using kids and bondage bears in an ad campaign, as reported by What’s The Jam.
