A rare vintage Aston Martin hidden away for decades has been discovered in a barn and put up for sale.

The 1953 Aston Martin DB2 Vantage is being offered as an incredible restoration project, albeit with a hefty price tag of £49,500.

The classic car is missing its engine, transmission, front suspension, and front wheels, leaving the lucky buyer some serious work to do.

But the DB2 has a rare twist – it was factory-made as a left-hand drive vehicle, an extremely unusual configuration for this model.

Only 411 of these cars were ever produced, making it a highly sought-after collector’s project.

In its prime, the DB2 could reach a hair-raising top speed of 120mph, powered by a 2.6-litre Lagonda VB6E straight-six engine – but a replacement engine will be needed to restore it to glory.

Originally, the Aston Martin came in a white exterior with a tan interior, and it’s now up for sale via Gullwing Motor Cars in New York, US.

A spokesperson for Gullwing Motor Cars said: “This barn-find 1953 Aston Martin DB2 Vantage Coupe is a factory Left-Hand Drive example and an excellent original car to restore.

“Its engine, transmission, front suspension, and front wheels went missing long ago.

“It’s not every day you find a factory Vantage left-hand-drive DB2.

“This gem has been tucked away in storage and hidden from public view until now.

“Here’s your chance to own the dream.”
