An ultra rare 50-year-old supercar has gone on sale for £600,000.

The 1975 Lamborghini Countach LP400 Periscopio is one of just ten right-hand drive models delivered new to the UK.

And it has just 12,000 miles on the clock.

Only 157 examples of the LP400 were produced, making it the rarest Countach variant.

As a result, the LP400 Periscopio is highly sought after by collectors.

Its four-litre, 375bhp V12 engine propels the car to a 180mph top speed, as reported by What’s The Jam.

The periscope-style rear-view mirror, integrated into a channel in the roof, was designed to improve rearward visibility due to the car’s low profile and limited rear window.

Its listing states: “This Countach has been meticulously cared for and has held an exclusive place in its current owner’s collection since 2018.

“Its provenance is fully documented, tracing ownership back to its first buyer, property developer Dan Horrocks from Bolton, who acquired it in May 1975.

“The car retains its original engine with matching numbers, while features such as its handbook, still in the leather wallet, and incredibly rare factory bulb kit further enhance its collectability.

“The Lamborghini Countach LP400 Periscopio first captivated crowds at the Geneva Motor Show in 1971, showcasing Marcello Gandini’s revolutionary ‘flying wedge’ design and striking scissor doors.

“Three years later, the LP400 production model elevated Lamborghini’s engineering prestige with a 375bhp longitudinally mounted V12 engine, ensuring it was the fastest of all Countach iterations.”

Auctioneer Rob Hubbard added: “This Lamborghini Countach LP400 Periscopio represents automotive rarity and desirability at its finest.

“Opportunities to acquire such an original right-hand drive example are incredibly scarce, making this sale a landmark moment for collectors.”

It is being sold by Iconic Auctioneers at Silverstone, Northants in August.
