A self-confessed tea addict owns a whopping 147 mugs worth £3,000.

Amy Sinfield has so many that she can drink six cups per day from a different one without having to do any washing up for almost a month.

The 24-year-old’s collection includes 95 Emma Bridgewater mugs costing £20 each, 15 Le Creuset mugs costing £15 and cheaper, sentimental mugs.

She proudly displays them in a £500, six-foot tall glass cabinet which was the first thing she bought when she moved into her new home.

The project officer rotates them regularly, matching them with her outfit, mood and the season.

“We worked out that if me and my husband drank three cups of tea each a day, we could go 25 days without washing a mug,” Amy, from Milton Keynes, told What’s the Jam.

“I’m a massive tea drinker and I love different patterns, colours, shapes and sizes.

“I try to get use out of all of them.

“I have seasonal mugs, ones for Spring, Autumn and Christmas and I give my best ones to guests so I rotate them.

“I choose my mug based on my mood and my outfit.

“It romanticizes my life. My favourite depends on my mood.

“I don’t like to think about how much they cost. I’ve bought them over a long period of time, I think it’s an investment and they make me happy.”

Amy says her friends and husband Jack, 27, think she’s “crazy” but they gift her a mug every Christmas and birthday.

She said: “My husband laughs at me, he thinks it’s crazy but he’s so supportive.

“Jack has bought me so many mugs.

“When we moved, the first thing we got was the cabinet so I had a nice place to keep my mugs.

“I’m the easiest person to buy for at Christmas. Just get me a mug.

“All my friends know that I’m a bit obsessive and if I like something then I need hundreds of them, not just a couple.

“I have lots of sentimental ones like a bride-to-be one that I love.

“When the season changes I run them all through the dishwasher.”

Amy started collecting mugs when she was 18 and she and Jack were making plans to buy their first home.

She says her love of mugs has been passed down by her mum, Julia, 51.

Amy said: “When we started to discuss buying a house, I started collecting mugs.

“My mum is obsessed with Emma Bridgewater mugs. She has a massive mug collection.

“We would go crazy when we went mug shopping.

“I had so many when I moved out. I had more mugs than cutlery and things I actually needed.

“I had four massive boxes full of mugs that I left at my mum’s because I didn’t want the movers to touch them.

“Getting them all out was so much fun.

“I’m absolutely crazy.”
