A stonemason has made the most of the Beast from the East by becoming a snow mason – to build his own igloo, complete with working fire and chimney.
Kyle Doran hand crafted the shelter, inspired by traditional Inuit homes, in a garden using fallen snow and ice.
He used an old plastic tub to create the icy blocks for the build.

And he installed the fireplace and chimney after a suggestion from his mother-in-law.
His three-year-old daughter, Norah, loves it, as reported by What’s The Jam.
Kyle, 26, of Stromness, Orkney, said: “I’ve done snowmen before and thought I’d try an igloo.

“I’m a stonemason – the one thing I can do is build.
“So instead of switching off and sitting in front of the fire, which I have done plenty of, I thought I’d get outside and build something with my daughter.
“We had some fun.

“I cut out a hole for the chimney so that it would draw air out and air comes in at the bottom so we’re not choked in the igloo.
“And that was it – you can sit inside, toast marshmallows, it’s cosy.
“You can enjoy a cup of coffee and some biscuits.”

Kyle added of his creation: “I haven’t slept in it yet but maybe I’ll give that a go.
“I’m hoping it doesn’t thaw too quickly and stays there a bit longer.”
He added that if the fire melts the snow, the cold freezes it again soon after.
