Carmen Agraz, a Spanish influencer residing in the UK for over ten years, has shed light on what she perceives as Brits’ lax approach to cleanliness.
With nearly 95,700 Instagram followers, Carmen shared an anecdote about her recent relocation experience.
Initially assured that her new apartment had been professionally cleaned, Carmen was surprised to find it untouched upon moving in.

Carmen was taken aback by her landlords’ response when she reached out to them.
She recounted, “They told me my cleanliness standards were very high.”
She noted traces of ketchup on the furniture, indicating the previous tenant’s lack of cleanliness.
Carmen was further surprised by the prevalence of carpeted floors in the UK.
Upon moving in, she noticed the floor covered in ginger hairs, deducing that the previous tenant was a redhead.

This compelled her to conduct a thorough cleaning before feeling comfortable settling into her new home.
Carmen’s observations are supported by recent surveys. One study revealed that 32 percent of Brits don’t wash daily, while another found that 33 percent wash their bathroom towels only once every three months.
Despite longing for her pristine home in Córdoba, Andalusia, Carmen humorously acknowledges in her Instagram bio:
