Sir Gareth Southgate has been mocked for charging fans £86 to plug his new book which is already half price.
The ex-Three Lions manager is doing two talks to promote Dear England: Lessons in Leadership.
But supporters have to fork out between £42.50 and £86 to attend.
However, they don’t get a chance to meet or have a selfie with the former England gaffer, 55, famed for wearing a waistcoat on the touchline.
Fans do get a hardback copy of the book, which isn’t out until 6 November, to take home.
But the £25 book is already half price for £12.50 on pre-order on Amazon.
Supporters were quick to poke fun at the events.
The first is at the 1,500-capacity York Barbican in the North Yorkshire city on 3 November.
The following night – also at 7:30 pm – Sir Gareth will be at the 1,950 seater Barbican Hall in Central London.
The event is for over-14s only.
Fan Nigel Wilson joked: “Doing the rounds as a comedian now.”
Graham Noble added, “Just remind me what he won.”
Gary Giles said, “A book about what?
“Making England the most boring team in the world to watch?”
Gareth Littlewood said: Erm, no, I’ll pass on that.”
But Susan Webb added, “I got my ticket.”
Sir Gareth got England to back-to-back Euro finals in 2020 and last summer – but they lost them both, as reported on What’s The Jam.
He also steered the Three Lions to a World Cup semi-final in 2018.
The ex-Aston Villa and Middlesbrough defender was replaced by Thomas Tuchel last October.
A spokesperson for Fane – organising the events – said: “Sir Gareth Southgate spent eight years in one of the highest-profile roles in the country: leading the England men’s football team on the world stage.
“In that time, he forged a unique management style, combining calm empathy with mental resilience, courageous integrity with strong accountability.
“His leadership at England propelled the men’s national team to its most sustained success in fifty years, reaching the 2018 FIFA World Cup semi-final and the UEFA Euro 2020 and 2024 Finals.
“In the process, Southgate revitalised and reshaped the national team’s footballing identity. “
They added: “In this rare evening, Southgate will take to the stage alongside a special guest host, to celebrate his new book Dear England: Lessons in Leadership.
“He will discuss the experiences that shaped him: his leadership style, the principles that informed his decisions, and the grace under pressure that enabled him to perform under the most intense public scrutiny.
“From his early days as a Premier League captain, to guiding England through four major tournaments, to becoming a cultural figure whose open letter during the Covid-19 pandemic inspired the hit West End play and forthcoming BBC drama Dear England, Southgate’s story is one of overcoming adversity, building quiet resolve and enacting long-lasting change.
“Hear directly from the man who has represented England more times than anyone else as a player and manager – and who transcends football to offer modern-day leadership lessons that apply to any individual, team, or organisation. “
