A classic Mercedes-Benz once linked to screen icon Marilyn Monroe is set to go under the hammer for £160,000.
The 1950 Mercedes-Benz 170 S is being offered by Iconic Auctioneers at its Iconic Sale during Supercar Fest on 16 May.
And it’s not just any vintage motor.

The car is believed to have been used by Monroe during a stay in Greece in 1956.
Records show the vehicle was imported through the port of Piraeus in February that year.
It is also supported by period insurance documents signed “Marilyn Monroe”, covering February to August 1956.
This timeline matches the Hollywood star’s time in Europe before she returned to the US and married playwright Arthur Miller later that year.
The link was uncovered by the current owner, who found fitted luggage marked with “MM” initials and a bespoke dashboard plaque.

Further research through Greek archives led to the discovery of the insurance certificate, which has since been officially verified.
The car was even classified at the time as a “Special Category Vehicle” – a designation typically reserved for high-profile individuals.
Beyond its celebrity connection, the vehicle has undergone a full restoration.

The work was carried out by Brookfield Classic Cars, with specialists Steve Nott and Gavin Bicknell overseeing a complete rebuild using period-correct parts and methods.
It is now presented in exceptional condition, complete with a detailed history file and matching numbers confirmed by a Mercedes-Benz data card.
The 170 S model played a key role in Mercedes-Benz’s post-war recovery, offering improved comfort and refinement with its 1.7-litre engine.
Steve Keen, car specialist at Iconic Auctioneers, said: “Opportunities like this are incredibly rare.
“This 170 S is not only restored to an exacting standard but also carries a well-documented and fascinating link to Marilyn Monroe.
“It represents the kind of significant motor car that appeals to collectors across the spectrum.”
The auction will take place during Supercar Fest in Northamptonshire, now in its sixth year, bringing together car enthusiasts and collectors from across the country.
