Britain’s biggest royal fan, who has travelled thousands of miles to attend ceremonies, says “they need our support.”

Sharron Tonge regularly drives to London in the early hours of the morning for events including the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, her state funeral, and King Charles III’s Coronation.

The 56-year-old also sets off early on Christmas Day – before her family has even opened any presents – to make the 100-mile round trip to Sandringham to see the Royal Family head into church for their morning service.

Sharron, who adored Queen Elizabeth II, says that “people’s Princess”, Kate Middleton, is now her favourite.

“Of course I loved The Queen all of my life and always wanted to see her in person,” she told What’s The Jam.

“I love the pomp and ceremony and the traditional way of doing things.

“My favourite royal now is Princess Kate, but I do love the King.

“I have been to a royal garden party – one of the last with the Queen – which was incredible and I loved every minute.

“I saw the Queen’s funeral procession and attended the Coronation of the King which was absolutely superb.

“I started going to Sandringham on Christmas Day in 2016 and had many close encounters with the royals.

“But 2024 was the best yet.

“I wanted to continue after the heartbreak of losing the Queen and it’s a huge tradition for me now.”

Sharron says on Christmas Day last month, she gave the Princess of Wales a bouquet of flowers and even received a handshake from little Prince Louis.

She said: “Prince Louis and the rest of the family were walking past and I had some flowers for Princess Kate.

“Little Louis looked straight at me and he shook my hand with his little fingers and gave me a smile.

“I gave the flowers to Princess Kate and she gave me the most beautiful smile and said ‘good morning’ and I said, ‘you look beautiful’ and she said ‘thank you very much for the flowers’.

“The King was walking by and approached the area where we were standing.

“There were a few people in wheelchairs in front of where I was standing, but he looked right at me and smiled.

“I held my hand out and he said ‘I’m so sorry I can’t get to you’ and burst out laughing, but gave me the most amazing smile.”

Sharron, from Horncastle, near Lincoln, Lincs, is also a singer and performs regularly at events.

She added: “In my career as a singer, I’m also known as Her Majesty, because of my love for the Queen.

“I sing ‘God Save The King’ at the end of my shows.

“Of course I had sung ‘God save The Queen’ for many years before that.

“The people’s love for the Royal Family is still there and their reign will continue.

“Royal events and the Royal Family are the fabric of what we are all about in this country and give us all something to be so proud of.

“Britain is admired throughout the world because of them and needs to hold on to the tradition of the royals and show our support to them.”
