A real-life Maine Coon has inspired the star of Boots’ enchanting new Christmas advert.
The feline, Marley, a striking snow-leopard-like cat, became the blueprint for Puss, the animated hero of the brand’s 2025 festive campaign Gift Happily Ever After.
The advert follows Puss on a magical dash from a snow-dusted fairytale kingdom to the British high street as he searches for the perfect last-minute gifts ahead of the Snow Queen’s Ball.

Represented by Urban Paws Agency, Marley provided the animators with his graceful gait, expressive mannerisms and natural charm, helping to give Puss a warm, charismatic and authentic feel on screen.
A spokesperson for the agency told What’s The Jam:
“Marley’s elegance, movement and personality shaped the character from day one. The animators built Puss directly from his presence.”
Off camera, Marley is known for his affectionate nature, love of chin tickles and playful interactions with his feline housemates. These qualities helped bring depth and heart to the animated Christmas hero.
Boots’ campaign, centred on the tagline Gift Happily Ever After, celebrates generosity, connection and the nostalgic magic of festive storytelling. The advert has already been hailed as one of the retailer’s most memorable in years.
The project marks another milestone for animal talent in UK advertising, showcasing how real pets are now shaping major brand characters in premium campaigns.
