A pet peacock killed in a hit-and-run has been laid to rest with FORTY mourners turning up for his funeral.

The colourful bird, called Henry Percy, was 16-years-old.

He was popular in a parish where he lived and had been adopted by locals as their mascot.

Henry was struck by a car which didn’t stop.

The exotic bird was found by the roadside by a parishioner who alerted cops.

He was buried in a purpose-built coffin in a hole dug outside the parish hall.

Mourners, including children, left flowers on the coffin.
